FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO HIGHER ED:

Confidently Navigate the Transition from High School to College

How are you feeling about beginning college?

The transition from high school to college is a significant life shift that brings both excitement and anxiety. High school graduates often experience a mix of emotions as they prepare for this next chapter.

You are on your way to start your freshman year of college! You’re excited, you also feel super anxious. You are not alone and it is okay to ask for a little help overcoming those worries so you can start this new life chapter feeling ready for what is ahead.

Does This Sound Familiar?

✅ Will I be able to handle the academic workload?

✅ What if I don’t make any friends?

✅ How will I manage my time effectively?

✅ What if I choose the wrong major or career path?

✅ Will I feel homesick or struggle living on my own?

✅ Can I balance school, work, and social life?

✅ What if I don’t fit in or experience imposter syndrome?

A lot of change is up ahead including increased independence in your schedule, new academic expectations, a new social environment, living away from home, learning self-sufficiency etc.

These unknowns create a lot of anxiety including a pressure to make the transition perfectly - and effortlessly, a fear of failure, fear of judgement, social anxiety, worry about choosing the right major

You don’t have to start this next step filled with worry—step into college feeling excited and capable.

COURSE OUTLINE (What do we actually do in this course?)

  • An initial assessment helps us pinpoint the specific challenges and concerns you're facing. By understanding what's going on for you, we can tailor the right tools and strategies to address your unique needs, ensuring you get the most effective support for your journey

  • By following this framework, clients can gain greater insight into their emotional responses to change, adopt a mindset that fosters resilience, and create actionable steps toward their goals

  • Learn how to recognize the most common types of thought distortions that increase anxiety and self-doubt. Ever find yourself jumping to conclusions? Using shoulds and musts? Catastrophizing or imagining worst-case scenarios? Making things all or nothing?

  • Understand where guilt, shame and self-blame come from and how to have a kind, helpful and accurate lens on appropriate limits of personal responsibility.

  • Learn how compassion helps us take action and fosters self-esteem and how criticism fuels fear and keeps us stuck. Also, learn how acceptance, instead of resistance, can help you break free from fear.

  • We'll consolidate all your learnings and review your toolkit.

Hi, I’m Jessie.

As a therapist for over a decade, I've worked closely with teens, college students, and young adults, and I have yet to meet a single client who hasn’t faced challenges during this transition. As a former college counselor on a university campus, I witnessed firsthand the challenges freshmen face during this transition. I understand your concerns and am passionate about providing practical support and guidance to equip you with the tools for a successful start. I created this program to remind you that you're not alone in this. And it’s okay to ask for help!

  • This course is for you if ...

You're a young adult navigating the college-to-career transition and struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, or feelings of inadequacy.

You're ready to learn and apply practical, actionable strategies in your life.

You’re looking to address your challenges with a focused, short-term program, rather than ongoing weekly therapy (though you can definitely do that with someone else!)

  • This is not for you if …

You’re struggling with the transition but what you’re struggling with is different than what this program is about (conquering self-doubt).

You’re looking for long-term support and ongoing therapy rather than a short-term, focused program (though a program like this might still be helpful as a supplement!)

You’re currently facing a crisis and may need to focus on addressing more urgent mental health concerns before diving into this program.
